Players in attendance: L (gm), Aus, Carla, Dien, Jess, Jim, Nate, Nikki, Zander
Characters in attendance: Chow, Eric, Gloria, Janie, Joseph, Nica, Maxine, Monty, Rex, Vito
XP/ DP awarded: 1 XP to all characters in attendance for surviving their fight with the hunter. 1 DP to Gloria, Chow, and Vito for working with camp scenery. Please mark it on your sheet accordingly.
NPCs met: Stu Henderson, a (rabid?) hunter
Summary: The possum taken from Fred's was examined at the university lab. Gloria determined that there is not enough left of the corpse to provide a good sample, and a new creature must be trapped. The group headed to the Pleasant Pines campground, near where the original possum was captured. They set up a trap by a dumpster, but then encountered what seemed to be a rabid human- a hunter. He lunged at the group and was subdued and examined. During the examination, he was found to have no heartbeat. Yet-- he sprung back up again. When he was shot in the head, he ceased moving. The group was understandably shaken and wondering what it was they just saw. They debated calling the police, vs how they would explain the mangled corpse of the hunter. In the end, the hunter's corpse was brought to the university lab for further study.
New Plot Points: The hunter's name (found on his license) is Stu Henderson. What happened to him? How did he wind up in the woods in such a state? What secrets can be learned from examining his corpse in the university lab?
The incubation rate of rabies varies. The taxidermist, Fred, should be spit tested to see if he has contracted the disease from his contact with the infected possum.
NEXT LIVE SESSION: Wednesday, January 23rd 7pm EST - hope to see you there!
----- OOC -----
GM: Would someone care to give a recap of The Story So Far?
(Jim) {Recap: There has been at least open notable case of rabies in the area recently and residents were advised to get their pets vaccinated. At the vet's office, several men were overheard discussing a possum who had not only been aggressive, but had seemingly come back from the dead to attack the local taxidermist. Several local residents left to speak with the taxidermist in hopes of learning more or taking faster action than the Garden State's health department.}
GM: And so, we open this week's live session at the university science lab where that dead possum will be examined.
(Carla) Should I describe the lab?
GM: That would be wonderful! Please do.
(Carla) The lab Gloria works in at the University specializes in advancements in medical diagnosis and improvements of hospital conditions, particularly for post op and long term patients. She works with several varieties of animals including mice, rats, rabbits and even a couple monkeys. One of her duties is to care for these animals. The lab is set up with several metal dissection tables, medical and chemistry equipment, including commonly used hospital equipment. Those that are going to the lab will find Gloria there feeding the animals for the afternoon as well as checking on an experiment involving localized infections around deep suturing.

GM: [And thus you find yourself directed by university staff to head for that lab in particular. Carrying your package of dead possum, you head on down to the door and-- action!]
* Vito knocks on the door and gives Janie what he hopes is a reassuring smile
* Janie is a very petite black maid, who is a little nervous. She's been very quiet and observant.
(Gloria) **looks up from her work and closes up her cages before going to answer the door. She is in lab coat. She suspects it is lost students. ** May I help you?
[Eric] Good afternoon, ma'am. May we have a moment of your time?
(Gloria) Of course. **She is polite but is still standing in the door, unsure if she should let them into the lab.** What can I do for you?
* Janie is trying her hardest to peek at the lab
(Maxine) We've got a dead possum. *nods toward the package that Vito is carrying*
(Janie) Can you do a viral culture to test for rabies?
(Vito) Sorry for the intrusion ... it seems rabies-like, but not ... exactly. We're just trying to keep our town safe and we hope you can help.
**Gloria smiles at the inquisitive girl but gives the others a queer look when they mention a dead animal until she remembers the news about the rabies** We can. Has it bitten anyone?
(Vito) Don't think so. It got put down in a hurry when it tried to.
GM: [ Gloria may know that usual procedure is to send these things out of town. However, the university lab is set up for such things- and sending them on to the state level does take time and buerocracy. The lab here is equipped to test for various conditions, so it should work out fine provided a sample can be taken.]
**Gloria nods and motions for them to come in.** A viral culture could take several days.
(Maxine) Yeah.... it was about to be taxidermied and it tried to eat Fred instead.
* Janie looks around* I'm aware, miss...
(Vito) Thank you, ma'am. *enters and hands off the grusome parcel*
(Gloria) It does sound like a case of rabies. Possom are usually secretive. ** She lays out the possom on one of the tables and puts on gloves before examining it. She isn't phased at all about the state of the animal or smell.**
GM: [Gloria you have seen dead animals before of course, and this one is quite dead indeed. It looks like it has suffered blunt force trauma to the head.. repeatedly. In fact, there is not much of its head left, though there is a lot of blood. This is a little bit of a problem-- standard rabies testing involves taking brain tissue and treating it with an anti rabies serum or globulin labeled with fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC)-- A fresh sample from an animal whose head isn't destroyed may be needed to to run the test for sure.]
(Gloria) *She frowns at the specimen.** There may not be a sample left in this animal. I will have to check the spinal cord for fluids. **She may be talking to them or herself.. it is hard to say**
(Janie) I was afraid of that. *frowns*
[Eric] Well, it's still plenty bloody, innit?
(Gloria) Rabies resides in the brain and spinal fluids.
(Vito) Creepy stuff.
(Maxine) It still ...erm sort of... has a backbone.
[Nica]: *grimaces*
(Janie) I assumed that you had the equipment here to do spinal testing?
**Gloria nods to Maxine's comment before turning to get some surgical impliments and a vial** If the fluid has not drained from the body I can test it but the damage is extensive.
(Janie) ...Do you need assistance?
[Eric] *eyes Janie - aside, to Vito* Is it me, or is she a bit morbid?
(Gloria) This is not the first spinal evacuation I have done. **She is cutting into the back and preparing to try and syringe fluid out.**
(Janie) Yes, Ma'am.
(Gloria) Thank you for your offer of assistance..... **She realizes she does not know the woman's name and pauses.**
GM: [To successfully remove the fluid from your very dead friend, you will need to roll dex plus doctor. If you have another character assist you, successfully, they can make a roll and add their success levels to yours. If they fail... well, they wind up sort of getting in the way. You make the call- assisted or unassisted. After all, you just met these people and their dead critter.]
(Janie) Janie Potts, Miss.
(Vito) Mm ... surprisingly knowledgeable about odd topics, definitely.
(Maxine) *by means of introduction, just says simply* Max.
(Vito) Vito, here.
[Eric] Eric Lancaster, ma'am. *since they're making introductions*
[Nica]: Dominica Catari -- *off Vito's look* Nica.
(Gloria) Dr. Kenison. **She states while preparing her attempt**
(SpARCy) =[ Name: Gloria | Success Levels: 0 | Failure! | Roll(1d10+5): 2 | Total: 7 ]=-
[You give it your best try-- but there's just not enough of the animal left intact to get a sample. [You've seen roadkill in better condition than this. The taxidermist it attacked really made sure that it was dead, dead, dead.]
(Gloria) **She shakes her head at the people standing all around her lab.** The animal has suffered too much trauma to test. If you can bring me a better specimen I can take a sample for testing.
(Janie) Alright. Thank you for your assistance.
(Maxine) Ah, crap. Well.... *looks over her companions* Think we should go hunting?
* Janie-PL frowns
(Gloria) **Feeling that she has failed as she begins to clean up, she offers** If you take me to the area where this animal was captured it is possible I could identify others that might be infected.
(Janie) I don't think that's safe, Dr.Kennison.
(Maxine) *eyes the animals in cages, thinking*
[Eric] Heh... well, supposedly it came from the woods just recently.
[Vito]: How long does it take for someone with rabies to get infected? I mean, from contact to foaming at the mouth, how long is that?
(Maxine) You think we should check back in on Fred in case he's foamy?
(Janie) He said that he wasn't bit. I'm sorry I wasted you alls time by suggesting this
(Gloria) The incubation time can be vastly different, up to 3 months depending on the strain.
(Vito) ... well ... that, or ... if one of these critters ate some of ... *indicates the possum-pizza* ... maybe they'd get infected.
(Maxine) Eh it was a good thought. And now we got a doc who can maybe check it out-- *blinks*
(Vito) Eh, if it's three months, it's not going to show up any time soon.
(Maxine) *would feel kind of guilty feeding a lab animal possum pizza*
[Eric] *dryly* I think you'd be better off waiting for the state lab results if you're waiting -that- long.
(Vito) Hey, it was just a thought. *vito shrugs*
(Gloria) It could show symptoms much earlier: 2 to 3 days.
(Maxine) What about trapping an animal?
**Gloria notices maxine looking at the animals but doesn't say anything while she continues cleaning up.**
(Maxine) If we find something rabid in the woods-- could we catch it alive?
(Janie) Sure, if you're not afraid of getting bit
(Maxine) Doc, how do they catch these research critters? Do you have any animal traps?
[Eric] I'd rather not get bit for curiosity, if it's really all the same to you.
(Gloria) We have traps here or I can borrow them. **She seems curious about all the talking.** Usually you euthenize an animal before removing it's brain for study.
[Nica]: That sounds dangerous. ... but maybe fun. Catching a crazed animal, saving the town ... very superhero-ish.
* Janie just looks around the lab
(Gloria) Animal bites can be very dangerous even without the threat of rabies.
(Maxine) So we set the trap and... watch from a distance maybe?
**Gloria is watching all of them closely now that more than one seems to be eying parts of the lab** For most common rabies carriers the best plan would be to set the trap out overnight with bait.
(Janie) I haven't been in a lab before... I've only seen pictures in books. *feels the need to explain*
(Maxine) I just don't want Ozzie to catch rabies. He likes to go outside, hunt the occasional mouse and squirrel. I've kept him inside since this started but-- it's worrying, you know?
(Maxine) Ah-ha. So we just set some traps up, bait them-- and tomorrow come back and see if we caught anything rabid?
(Gloria) **She nods to both Janie and Maxine** It is worrisome for many pet owners when there is an outbreak. **Gloria takes her time to wash up both herself and the table after disposing of the critter**
(Vito) We have a definite sample of the illness right here, already. But we can go home and maybe catch an animal, and maybe it will be rabid ... doesn't seem right, somehow.
(Gloria) We can test an animal that hasn't displayed the symptoms to see if it is a carrier as well. It might be helpful to know if there is a carrier population.
GM: [So you have-- traps, a scientist, and a group of people, some of whom are more excited than others at the prospect of trapping a rabid creature. And there's woods. Plenty of woods. Does the group want to try and trap themselves a fresh critter?]
*Gloria is in for trapping.
(Vito) But trapping seems like our best way to go. I'm in.
[Nica]: In.
(Maxine) What do you bait them with, anyhow? *is in*
* Janie is discouraged, but in
(Gloria) If you are interested in testing your taxidermist friend I can bring a saliva kit and run a test for him as well.
[Eric] I suppose I'm in, but I recommend bringing a rifle all the same, just in case. Don't want to find out the hard way that whatever you caught isn't quite caught.
(Maxine) It might be a good idea... *grins just a bit at the thought of Fred getting spit-tested*
(Vito) You bring the longarm, I've got the handgun.
[Eric] *nods* Yessir, boss.
(Gloria) A mixture of fruit and meat would give the best results for a variety of animals.**Is a little nervous at the mention of guns.**
**consider the lab locked and secured and Gloria without her lab coat in a very stylish red floral dress and black leather shoulder bag with her medical supplies in it**
GM: (Scene switches to Chow's shop where characters are stopping to collect food to bait the traps with.)
(Dien) [The small shop is crowded with shelves piled high with all sorts of merchandise-- some mundane, soap and aspirin-- and some things are ~exotic~ with Chinese imports. There's boxes of dried fruit-- figs, apricots, apples-- as well as rice cakes, something that won't be commercially available to most americans for a decade or so yet.The taller people who visit will be constantly ducking their heads to avoid hitting red lanterns, dragon kites, and hanging scrolls. The shop always has a close, spicy smell-- ginger and a dozen other sharp scents . ]
*Chow is sweeping when the door opens.
* Janie doesn't have to duck.
(Maxine) Hey Mr. Chow-- *waves when they head in*
(Gloria)**is rather short too**
[Vito]: Ni-hao, Mr. Chow. *waves*
(Chow) Mmmh. *sets the broom into a corner and moves behind the counter, squinting at all these people in his shop and giving Vito a tiny nod.
(Maxine) *is helpfully carrying one of the animal traps*
**Gloria is intrigued by all the stuff, particularly the unavailable elsewhere items**
(Chow) (Teacups and teapots, loose oolong and darjeeling tea in bags. Fans with painted tigers. Little jade tchotchkes.)
(Maxine) Lookit the dry fruit-- think an animal would go for some figs?
(Janie) Meat.
(Gloria) Raccoons will eat most foods. **She adds while looking at some little jade items**
* Vito looks around for jerky or dried fish
*Joseph comes in just after the group. He's actually here regularly to purchase tea. It's one of the few things that he drinks that isn't alcoholic.
[Eric] *is peering around at the tea, with a semblance of genuine interest, contemplating* I'd say any dried foods would do.
(Chow) (There are tins of sardines on one shelf, crammed next to a ceramic lamp of a dragon.)
* Janie gets sidetracked, and discovers rice cakes
(Maxine) *snags the box of dried figs* I'll spring for these.
* Chow watches everyone sourly to make sure nobody tries to shoplift-- you never know, okay-- and betting to himself that nobody will actually Buy anything-- oh never mind, customer* Fifty cent.
* Monty looks over from browsing some figs to look at the group. "Well, what's all this about?"
[Rex] *is slouching moodily from aisle to aisle and peering at a list in his hand*
**Gloria finds a little jade monkey that she just loves but frowns at it knowing she can't afford anything*
(Maxine) *fishes in her pocket for her coinpurse, then takes out two quarters* There you go.
(Chow) *Plenty of tea here, Joseph. No Earl Gray, but pekoe, oolong, lapsang souchong...*
* Chow grunts to Maxine and takes the quarters, popping them into the register
* Janie picks up some rice cakes, and a teapot, ready to buy them
* Vito grabs two tins of sardines ... noticed the jade monkey that Gloria is looking at* Go ahead, Doc ... I'll cover that. Least I can do, you coming all the way out here and all ...
*Joseph ends up picking up some oolong and pekoe, giving a friendly smile to anyone who happens to be near him.
(Chow) *The jade monkey is pretty cute. It's got a little carved hand that can hook onto things so it hangs and swings.*
* Chow brightens somewhat at all these people spending mooooney
**Gloria smiles pleasantly at Vito. It is rare anyone is nice to her. Taking her monkey she follows him** Thank you. **She sounds very genuine and surprised**
* Janie eyes Gloria
[Eric] *to Monty* Long story. Want the short version?
* Monty nods. "Let's hear it."
[Nica]: Wow, we really brought in healthy little rush, huh? *snags a pack of candied ginger root and takes out her coin purse*
[Eric] We're trapping animals for science.
(Maxine) *racism alert!* Hey um.. you know-- maybe Mr. Chow knows something about trapping animals. I think they eat them wild over there...
(Chow) *at Vito* Four dollar sixty *hey, you told the lady you'd buy her the monkey*
* Monty raises an eyebrow. "You people? Trapping animals?" He looks over the crowd and then snickers just a little.
(Chow) *at Nica* fifteen cents
* Chow possibly purses his lips at Maxine's words but doesn't deign to respond. If he answered every comment about Chinese people he'd be talking all the time and he hates talking
* Vito frowns, turns over the monkey to see the price-tag, shrugs and forks over the cash
(Maxine) *eyes Monty - would fold her arms but she's carrying a trap* Why, do you know something about animal trapping, mister?
(Janie) Eat them wild?
[Eric] So we need some natural food that animals might actually want to eat to bait the traps. *shrugs* Got any pellets of ancient wisdom?
(Janie) There is nothing wrong with eating animals from the woods
(Chow) [Monkey: is four dollars!]
[Nica]: *sets a dime and a nickel on the counter*
* Chow scrutinizes Eric, if Eric is actually aiming those words at him
* Monty shrugs. "Well, I have hunted once or twice in my life..."
* Chow makes Nica's money disappear
[Rex] *joins the line..ish thing with an armful of tea and figs and generally looks put-upon for a second ...before realizing that there are _girls_ in the shop and artfully tousling his hair*
* Chow is working up to actually CHEERFUL. Look at all these customers paying for things!
(Janie) I'd like to see you survive in the woods
* Joseph gets in line for paying for his teas as well.
(Maxine) Good! You want to go on an expedition? *to Monty* You can help us catch something for science.
[Nica]: Hiya, Rex! *waves*
**Gloria isn't sure what to make of all the discussion. It is almost too much since she spends a lot of time alone**
* Chow rolls his eyes slightly at Rex tousling his hair but charges him for the tea and the figs, one dollah sir!
* Monty shrugs. "Sure. I've got a free day today... Like most days..."
* Janie is upset again
[Rex] *waves carefully, and smiles* "Good afternoon!"
(Chow) Yes.
[Eric] Personally, I'm more keen on duck hunting than trapping. ::technically was referring to Monty, but notes Chow's scrutiny and nods politely:: But the pretty ladies are worried, so that means I have to be concerned.
* Janie pays for her items and goes outside to wait
* Chow takes people's money, listening to the discussion, a small frown on his face
(Maxine) The non-pretty ladies are worried too. *is referring to herself*
(Gloria)**Joins Janie outside since she needs a break from all the talkking in small spaces**
(Maxine) I'm Max, by the way.
* Chow rings up Joseph as well
[Nica]: *to Rex* Wanna go catch a rabid animal for science? *is sure this is the worst pickup line ever, bar none*
(Monty) "Monty."
(Chow) What animal?
(Joseph)Thank you, Mr. Chow. *pays for his tea*
* Chow nods slightly at Joseph
(Janie) ...I'm sorry if I was rude, Miss. My heart speaks before my head does most of the time.
[Nica]: The rabid one.
[Rex] "Well, sure! I can write about it for science class..if you can help me, that is."
* Chow looks irritated.* What _type_
[Eric] A possum or a raccoon, ideally.
(Maxine) Nice to meet you, Monty. And--
* Chow rubs at his jaw* Hnh
(Gloria) **Isn't sure what Janie means but smiles** I am not upset, Miss Potts. I am sorry if I have upset you.
[Eric] Raccoons are supposedly clever sorts, though, so something dumb enough to stay in the trap might be better.
(Maxine) *pauses a moment, and points at Joseph* Oh hey, it's that guy....
[Rex] *turns your bad pickup lines into _art_, Nica*
[Nica]: *damn, that was totally not supposed to work* Yeah, yeah, no problem. Oh, Rex, this is my cousin Vito, and Janie, and Eric, and Doctor Gloria, and Maxine, and I think that's the party so far ...
(Joseph) *blinks, then smiles* Oh, hello.
(Janie) You haven't upset me... It's just, I really wanted to find something with that animal. It's not often that I get a chance to look into something like this.
(Maxine) Hi-- you were in A Christmas Carol, weren't you?
[Rex] "A pleasure to meet you all!"
(Janie) Normally, I just read about things.
(Maxine) I took my niece and nephews to see it this Christmas. Good show.
* Vitol nods at Rex
(Gloria) **She really smiles** We will have another chance if you are successful.
(Joseph) Yes, yes I was. I'm glad that you enjoyed it.
(Maxine) Yeah, the kids were a little scared of the ghost of Christmas past, but overall it was a win. *offers her hand* I'm Max. Don't mind all this fuss here-- we're about to go trap a wild animal.
(Janie) Thank you. *Janie smiles* It shouldn't be too hard for one of them to catch something or other.
* Chow shrugs. He has no better suggestions than the fruit and the herrings* After you catch, what?
[Rex] "So, possums! It'll be like the Scouts!"
* Monty chuckles. "Heh, ghosts..."
(Gloria) Which woods did you find the possom in? **She asks curiously and trying to keep the convesation going to help Jani not be sad**
(Joseph)*reaches out and shakes her hand* Joseph Kendall, pleasure to meet you. You're going out to trap an animal? Exactly what for? *Isn't always up on the latest gossip* And sorry that the ghosts scared the children. Maybe that will keep them from growing into Scrooges, though, right? *laughs*
(Vito) Umm, it was over by the taxidermy guy's place, right?
(Max) *both to Chow and Joseph, it seems* Well we're hoping to trap a critter with rabies and bring it to the science lab to be dissected.
[Nica]: Kind of like scouting, yeah ...
(Max) They sent some samples off to the state lab supposedly but... if there's some sort of epidemic going on, we want our pets to be safe.
[Nica]: Important. Like being heroes and stuff.
(Joseph) Isn't that risky? Aren't you afraid of getting bit yourself?
* Chow grunts
(Max) Nah, the traps get baited and left overnight. We shouldn't come in contact with anything.
(Vito) Just so long as everyone's careful with the traps in the morning ...
[Eric] Plus, if this is all the result of some idle rambling and just one crazy possum, I'd rather know than be looking over my shoulder the rest of the season.
(Vito) Exactly.
(Joseph) Oh well that's good, at least.
[Rex] "I hope they get my good side when they take our pictures!" *smiles, again and is, in the meantime, paying for the stuff he's been holding on to*
(Gloria) **Decides to interject** There are hooks to lift the traps so your hands stay clear of the animal.
* Chow looks around to see if anyone else has money to give him-- oh, Rex does. He takes it with another grunt and a nod
[Nica]: Which is your good side? Neither looks bad ... *innocent look*
GM: [The woods in question were near the Pleasant Pines Campground. Which is another reason it could be a problem...]
* Chow gives Rex his change and then crouches down behind the counter, rummaging in the crowded mess back there
[Rex] "Exactly!"
* Janie gets a slip of paper from her pocket, and starts scribbling something down
(Joseph) Really? Hooks to lift the animal? Quite fascinating, actually.
* Chow comes up with a glass bottle with a faint chemical smell
(Janie) To lift the traps not the animals
(Maxine) You want to come along for the fun?
[Nica]: So, who are you going with, anyway, Rex? You must have a girlfriend ...
**Gloria is curious about what she is writing but isn't obviously looking**
[Eric] *decides to pick up and pay for a teapot and some tea while he's here - what? it's a nice-looking teapot, and it's been a while since he's had -real- tea - and eyes the bottle curiously as he comes over*
(Joseph) Sure, why not? Sounds like it could be interesting.
(Max) Maybe it'll give you some inspriation if you ever need to play a monster. *grins*
* Chow gives Eric a little nod as he quotes the price for his things at him. Eric is British; overall Chow has positive associations with the British. Not-American.
[Rex] "Aw, well, the season takes up a lot of my time, and then in the off-season, well..that takes up a lot of my time too. Gotta stay in top form for the college scouts."
* Chow tinks a finger against the glass bottle* Chloroform?
(Joseph) *laughs* I will certainly have to keep it in mind then!
(Janie) So are all of you coming along? If so, we need to work out what we're going to do... too much noise and you'll scare things off, but if they've got this kind of rabies then we might just rile them up
[Nica]: Oh, well, yeah ... Art's kinda like that too ... I'm always working, you know ...
(Monty) "Oh, don't worry about me. I know how to stay quiet."
(Joseph) Promise to be as quiet as a church mouse.
[Nica]: I can be quiet.
* Vito eyes Nica
[Nica]; Really.
* Janie is writing down names and descriptons
[Eric] *nods* Might come in handy for the right price. *glances over his shoulder, then counts out cash*
(Maxine) Who's going to be in charge of this expedition? The hunter?
(Janie) I'm just tagging along. All of you can decide that.
(Chow) Even with hooks on cage, sick animal dangerous * Chow gives Eric his change*
(Gloria) I will if needed. I am not sure anyone else will know how to find a good place for a trap. **She smiles at Chow.** I brought Ketamine to be safe.
* Chow flicks a wary, suspicious glance at Gloria.
[Eric] Believe me, mate, I agree wholeheartedly. Thank you much.
(Vito) I could, but my experience with firearms exceeds my critter-knowledge. Anybody here know their way around the animal-side of this?
(Joseph) That would not be me. The only animal experience I have is with a dog or two.
[Rex] "I'm not really much of a hunter but I thought I'd keep Nica company." *to Max*
(Chow) *chow-thoughts: (you're a giiiiiirrrrl. and american. and young. ugh.)*
GM:[Characters (and players) may decide amongst themselves, but the gm will request that you nominate a party leader. :) ]
(Joseph) And one trained performing monkey, but that was back in New York.
(Monty) "Hmm... Perhaps I could..."
(Gloria) **Of course, a man, she thinks to herself and frowns at Monty**
* Chow exhales and wonders if he should go along on this expedition to keep stupid people from getting in trouble if the Silly American Girl starts waving Ketamine around
(Maxine) Hey, I just know it's not going to be me. I know nothing about the woods. *shrug*
(Chow) Hmmnh. I go.
(Vito) You going to lead the expedition, sir?
[Eric] *raises a brow* Feeling curious?
* Chow announces that and then promptly leaves from behind the counter to vanish through the door to go get boots. He probably gives Vito a really 'wtf' look if that question was aimed at him
(Gloria) I could use the help setting the traps. **Gloria comments knowing full well that some foolish man is going to take over... as usual in her life**
(Joseph) I'd be happy to help, as long as you could show me how.
* Chow doesn't bother answering questions if they were aimed at him, but comes back in a minute or two later wearing rubber rain boots and a coat and carrying a leather satchel
(Gloria) I can. I've had to use these for our monkeys on occassion. **She is happy that it is just help for once**
(Max) Hi ho hi ho-- it's off to the woods we go... *hums*
*Joseph certainly doesn't know how to do it, and isn't going to pretend. He'd rather ask for help than hurt himself and be embarassed.*
(Vito)It sounds like you have all the background for this, Doctor. You want to take the lead?
(Chow) . o O (Oh lovely, they are having this silly American girl _lead_. yes, it is best he go along in case of disaster. Tch!)
(Gloria) I'll need someone to show me where the first animal was caught.
* Monty looks at Vito suspiciously. "Her? ...Are you sure?"
GM: [Fred said that his buddy brought the critter in--- and that buddy said that it was found somewhere out in the woods by the campground. So chances are, if you head for the campground's dirt trails, you will find yourself in rabid critter territory.]
(Vito) She knows what causes this, how to figure it out, how to catch the critter in question ... doesn't it seem like she should run point?
(Gloria) Do any of the rest of you have experience with handling wild animals? **She points the question directly at Monty.**
(Maxine) Kids and cats I can do. Wild animals... well this is a new experience for me.
(Janie) ...I have a bit, but that was a long time ago
[Eric] Don't look at me, I'm here to shoot the rifle if things go south. I fix cars for a living, I'm not an animal handler.
* Monty responds matter of factly. "Yes. ...Well... killing them, not trapping them... but..."
(Joseph) This will be a new experience for me as well.
[Rex] "Not unless you want me to strike it out, ma'am."
* Chow just grunts. Who knows if that's a yes or a no
(Vito) Best man for the job, even if the best man's a woman. Capisce?
(Gloria) **Is obviously sick of all this discussion and waiting**
(Janie) I grew up in Florida, and spent a lot of time off in the woods. No promises, but I think I remember how to trap
(Maxine) *gives a nod of appreciation for Vito's sentiment*
* Chow starts shooing people out of his shop out into the outside. Chow digs out a key from a pocket and locks the door
* Monty just shrugs. "Oh well. Heh, this'll be interesting."
GM: [And outside you all go!]
(Gloria) I would like your help Janie. **She is glad the women might do this and heads out**
* Janie is glad to help
(Gloria) **has a car and can drive**
(Chow) Setting traps *grunt* not dangerous. probably. *by which he means, we can let the silly american woman lead, in not so many words*
GM: [The day is a nice and sunny day, not too cold even though it is winter time. People are bustling about town on their way to this or that errand, some waving pleasantly to each other as they pass a friend or neighbor. Everyone seems pretty unconcerned about the errand you're on.]
* Monty has his own car.
(Gloria) **prepares for a wagon train and will be following someone else**
* Vito has a vehicle and plenty of room
GM: [ Though you can pile up into cars and drive out toward the campground, the dirt trails that lead back into the woods are going to be walking-only. We can skip over the driving portion if you like, assuming that people share vehicles as needed.]
* Janie takes shotgun with Vito
[Nica]: Rex, you wanna ride with us? We got the big ol' Studebaker ...
* Chow will reluctantly ride with someone rather than take his bicycle
(Maxine) Eric, can I hitch with you? *grins*
*Joseph has a car...and a driver.
[Rex] *is used to piling in with people* "Sure thing, Nica!"
(Gloria) **Will ride with Janie because she trusts her to cut down on cars. Asks Vito...** Can I join you?
[Eric] You may. *And they go!*
* Chow balances his leather satchel on his lap and does not speak for the ride out there
(Vito) The more the merrier! Pile in!
GM: [Now before we arrive-- who would like to declare some relevant equipment? Is anyone armed or carrying anything they would like to declare before any potential trouble?] [
(Gloria) **piles in wherever and is uncomfortable the whole trip** L
[Nica]: *grins at Rex* This'll be fun!
* Monty has a rifle in the trunk.
(Gloria) (Not armed, has tranquilizers though and basic medical supplies plus things like scalpels...hopes to not have to use them for defense.)
[Rex] "I bet it's never a dull moment with you around!"
[Vito]: *has a pistol in his coat and a switchblade in his pocket*
[Nica]: *has a pistol in her purse*
* Joseph has a tire iron, because he didn't leave the house planning on animal trapping and didn't bring a gun.
* Chow has his doctor's bag, and inside it his service pistol with one bullet only. Doctor's bag has basic medical supplies as well.
(Maxine) *has a utility knife in her pocket*
[Eric] *would like to declare that women need tighter dresses. also, that he now has chloroform in addition to his rifle and usual swiss army knife.*
[Nica]: Oh, you have no idea! *laughs*
* Janie has a knife
GM:[The campground is technically open to campers by reservation only, although some foolhardy souls (or horny teenagers) use this as a place to get away from prying eyes for a while without informing the Pleasant Pines management office of their intentions. Most of the campgrounds are located at the ends of dirt trails, and are marked with little more than a cleared space, a picnic table, and a metal-ringed fire pit. A few of the campground lots include actual cabins, some of which are reserved year-round. There are woods all around, with dirt trails leading into them. You can easily walk down a dirt trail into the deeper woods, hopefully there to find a place to trap a rabid critter.]
* Chow gets out of the car and frowns around
(Gloria) Since we have more than one trap. Maybe we should set one by the dumpsters in the camp? **she mentions once they arrive**
(Janie) Yes.That's a good idea, Gloria
(Vito) Very good idea.
* Joseph slips out of his own car, telling his driver to wait and get comfortable.
* Chow grunts grudging approval of this idea. Perhaps she is not useless, this woman.
GM: [ Gloria-- give yourself a DP! That is a very good idea.]
[Rex] "I'd feel a lot better if I had a bat." *frowns a little bit*
(Janie) Get a big branch, it's about the same thing
**Gloria looks around after getting out of the car and looks around for signs near by to tell her about the animals that might be trapped but she does not stray far.**
* Monty nods a bit.
GM:[There is a big green dumpster over by the cabins that looks like it might be a likely target for where the camp's garbage gets deposited.]
[Nica]: *gets out of he car and gets a look around* Heard about this place, first time I've been out here though.
* Janie looks around too, as she walks towards the dumpster
GM: [Anyone who is heading for the dumpster, roll a per+notice for what you see. If you have a revelant skill like wilderness survival or animal tracking, you can add that in.]
(Gloria) **Joins Janie to check out the area, mostly for animal signs**
[Rex] *rolls his eyes and sighs, shaking his head. A branch, indeed.*

GM: [Everyone notices the dumpster is smelly. Obviously trash hasn't been emptied for the week, or whatever increment they empty it in. There are some people who were rather untidy who somehow managed to miss the big green gaping trashhole, and dropped some peels and cans and papers and such on the ground instead.]
(Gloria) This looks like a good place for one of the traps.
[Eric] I'm guessing the maid is a bit late around these parts.
* Chow makes a tsk noise
GM: [Chow, you also notice the ground by the dumpster is freshly scratched up by an animal digging for food. The prints look like they are a raccoon. You could likely even follow them, if you chose.]
(Joseph) I don't think the maid has been around for quite a while, if ever.
(Janie) Hey, I don't work here
(Maxine) P-ewww.
* Chow goes over to the dumpster and crouches by the trash, squinting down at the scratch marks
* Janie isn't that good of a maid anyway
* Chow wrinkles his nose for the dumpster-stink, and also for the tracks, then peers into the woods where the tracks go* Your animal *shrugs and points*
* Monty snickers at Eric's comment
* Chow indicates the tracks if anyone else wants to look at them, then digs out his cigarettes from a pocket
GM: [There is a clear trail into the woods that Chow sees. If anyone wants to try to see what he is seeing, give it a roll +2 for having it pointed out to you. If you have a vision bonus, add that in.]

GM: [[Janie-- you sort of see it? Here and there anyhow.Eric, Vito and Joseph can make it out now that it's pointed out. Scratchy little animal tracks, yup. Monty and Gloria, you see it well enough to track it yourselves - it's a clear trail made by a racoon alright.]
(Gloria) **looks in the direction and nods** It will likely retrn to feed here. We can set the other in the woods but I wouldn't follow it too far or it may be hard to carry back.
(Max) Good plan. So we set up one here, and then try to follow a bit...?
(Gloria) **She nods to Max** But not too far. We will have to carry a trap with an angry animal back if we catch anything.
* Monty nods. "Heh, there we go... Not exactly a bird, but..."
(Max) I think Eric got something from Chow to make it a little easier... *noticed the chloroform!*
GM: [Gloria to set the trap, give me a dex + mister fix it + 2 for familiarity]
(Gloria) It is still heavy and you will want to keep the cage away from you. Rabies is transmitted in the saliva and the animal will try to chew out of the cage.
(Janie) I'd say cover it with a canvas cloth, if something is trapped?
(Max) Oh crap, really? Right out of the cage? Geeeze.
(Gloria) **looks to Janie as she gets the trap in place.** Would you like to help me?
(Janie) Yes
[Rex] *rusltes up a stick, glancing over at the trap and the tracks and trying to look unconcerned*
GM: [Assisting char can roll and add her success levels to yours.]
(Joseph) The thought of that is...kind of worrying, actually. Do you need any help with more traps?
(Gloria) I can show you both how to set them.

* Janie says low

(Gloria) I think you have it. **She comments to Janie and then turns to Joseph.** You should watch again before trying to set one. **There seems to be a feeling that Gloria has given these sorts of instructions before**
(Joseph) I'll make sure to watch a few more then.
* Chow was smoking his cigarette and now wanders back to see what is going on
GM: [Somewhere in the far woods, there is a rustle, and an animal shriek.]
(Janie) Well.
(Maxine) ...!
(Chow) hhn.
(Joseph) Might be one of our sick animal friends.
[Nica]: Holy sh ... nikes. Wow, that was quick.
(Gloria) **Stands and looks in the direction of the sound.**
GM: [Anyone who wants to can roll per+notice to see if they can tell what it might be. This time? Situational awareness counts.]

GM: [Well crap. Everyone-- You're not sure what it is. That shriek? Definitely an animal sound... Gloria, and Joseph and Eric notice the rustling of branches indicates that it's a lot bigger than a raccoon, whatever it is. And it's coming in your direction.]
(Joseph) I think whatever that is...is bigger than a raccoon.
(Gloria) I think we should go back to the cars. **She seems very nervous about what is out in the woods. Big animals and rabies is not a good idea.**
* Chow frowns
(Vito) Oh ... crap. *is backing toward the cars but facing the woods, and takes out his pistol*
GM: [Rustle... rustle.... rustle....]
* Chow opens his leather satchel
* Joseph hand tightens around the tire iron he brought.
(Vito) Eric, you got the thing?
(Maxine) *starts backing toward the cars*
* Janie watches
[Eric] *raises the rifle warily* ...
* Monty backs up too, but is sure to put himself between the rustling and the women.
GM: [Through the underbrush breaks--- a hunter.]
* Chow is pulling out the ol' pistol and taking some steps away from the edge of the woods, but keeping his eyes on the trees
[Nica]: *shrieks and ducks behind Rex*
(Janie) Awful close to the campgrounds, aren't you?
GM: [At first, this might seem a relief. He's wearing a good ol' coonskin cap, and he's got a rifle in his hands.]
(Gloria) **Relaxes when she sees the hunter**
* Chow grunts. Silly panicking people.
GM: [But as he comes closer-- something's not right about him....]
* Chow lowers the gun a little, shaking his head
* Vito sighs and holsters up
(Janie-PL) Did you hear me? Hello?
* Joseph notices the offness.* Are you alright, sir?
(Gloria) **Is not uncomfortavle about this man**
GM: [He's got a vacant glassy look in his eyes. He looks disheveled and moldery, like he's been out in a rainstorm. And there's a big tear in his pantleg, with a nasty, nasty looking animal bite]
[Nica]: *peers*
* Chow pauses in the act of lowering the gun, staring
GM: (Hunter) Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
* Janie stares
(Maxine) ....
[Nica]: Daddy-o ... you had a bad day, huh?
* Chow swears in Chinese to himself at the sight of that bite
* Chow digs into the bag again
(Gloria) He could be rabid. **She comments watching him closely.** He has the symptoms.
GM: (Hunter) *lurches toward them, his mouth hanging open. His tongue looks vaguely black*
* Vito still has his hand on his pistol, because, damn.
(Chow) Sit down *peevishly at the man*
(Maxine) Holy crap he's got the rabies! What do we do?
* Chow gives Gloria a disbelieving look
(Janie) He's already dead if he's this bad off
(Vito) Doesn't that take months? *draws his gun, again*
* Chow is, somewhat foolishly, standing close to the hunter
GM: [Doctor types can do a quick roll if they like to get a handle on this guy's symptoms. He seems pretty slow moving at least.]
[Rex] "Don't worry, ma'am. We'll take care of him for you."
[Eric] Well, get the hell away from him, for one thing.

[Nica]: ... wow, that's really grotty. Is his tongue black? Ew ...
[Eric] Look, fellow, you need to stand still a minute -- you really don't look too good at all...
* Monty is kind of frozen up at the moment. "Poor guy..."
(Joseph) If he's as sick as you may think...he may not be understanding us.
GM: [Gloria, Chow, Eric-- this guy just Ain't Right. You'd guess from the stiffness of movement, the festering bite, and the glazed look in his eyes that he's rabid alright. He is making steady progress toward your group, though his movements are clumsy.] 06[21:28] * Vito-Pl adjusts his grip on the gun, and is starting to sweat
[Eric] *at least knows 'don't stand near the goddamn rabid guy who isn't listening to what people
are saying', and is keeping the rifle leveled* That's why I recommend backing up a pace unless you want to catch whatever he's got.
* Janie backs up
* Joseph is backing up as well.
(Vito-Pl) Okay, this is really, really bad. *backing up*
* Chow looks over at Eric, then takes a careful three steps backwards
(Janie) ...He can't bite anyone else. If he does, it spreads
(Gloria) Get in the car. **Gloria looks at the group and then the hunter. He could be crazy from infection or worse.**
[Rex] *is careful to keep himself between whatever is happening and the girls*
GM: (Hunter) Rrrrrrghhhhhhhhhhhh! *lurches after Chow, as he was closest before he moved*
(Chow) !!
GM: [Chow, give it a dodge +3 as he isn't really all that much of a threat at the moment due to slowness and distance.]
[Rex] "Look out, mister!"
* Chow scrambles backward at that, his dignity forgotten as he scuttles back and against a picnic table. Or he tries, anyway
(Janie) No!
(Vito) So, what do we do? If we -- Hey!
(Janie) Shoot him!
(Maxine) We can't just put him down like a dog.... can we?

[Rex] "If he's sick like a dog is, then yes, ma'am!"
(Gloria) If he is rabid I don't think medicine can help. **Looks worried**
(Janie) If he bites anyone it spreads
GM: [Chow gets quickly out of the way--- and Vito shoots his gun off. Someone call high or low.]
(Joseph) I think it's less putting him down like a dog and more putting him out of his misery. (high!)
(SpARCy) -=[ Name: GM | Roll(1d100): 71 | Total: 71 ]=-
GM: [The gunshot makes the hunter pause. He looks down at his own gun, perhaps distantly remembering something. At least he's stopped for the moment.]
* Vito points the pistol at the hunter again, after the warning shot
* Chow is swearing a low stream in Cantonese
(Hunter) Rrrrrhrhhhhmmmnnnhhhh?
(Vito-Pl) Well, that's something. Everybody, get in the cars while we can.
(Janie-PL) We can't leave him here!
[Eric] *is taking Aim at the fellow's leg in case he doesn't respond to a warning shot* If someone's got a great idea on detaining this fellow safely, I would like to hear it now.
(Maxine) You don't need to tell me twice-- maybe we should call the police? Or animal control? hell...
* Chow seems to no longer be so argumentative. He is moving for a car
[Eric] A tarp. A blanket. Anything in your vehicles.
(Vito) We need to ... Someone has to go to town and tell the cops what's up. But no, we can't just let this mook wander off ...
(Chow) Hit him in head with long stick
(Gloria) **Starts loading up a needle with Ket and trying to watch. It might be needed if they are crazy enought ot try and catch him**
(Janie-PL) I've got twine and burlap. Rope would be better
* Chow looks around* Vito!
(Vito) Yes, Mr Chow?
* Chow knows Vito by name at least. Good kid, says hello in chinese
(Gloria) Not the head. **She comments remembering the possom.**
GM: (Hunter) *hoists his gun up to his shoulder, though not pointed at anyone, and starts shuffling again, slowly*
* Chow jerks his chin towards one of the picnic tables* We take end each. Lift. Knock over with it.
* Janie rushes to the car to get the burlap and twine out of her suitcase
(Vito) I like the way you think. *grabs an end* Let's do this ...
(Maxine) *gets out her little utility knife, just in case*
* Chow hurries to grab an end of the picnic table. If this works how he wants it to, at least they'll be out of arm's length of the hunter
* Joseph raises his tire iron up a bit when he sees the hunter lift up his gun.
[Rex] *is still herding people towards the cars, and keeping himself bravely in between the sick hunter and the other party members*
(Gloria) **Steels herself to jab this ugly thing with a double dose of seditives.** I'll put him under as soon as he is down.
GM: [Give it a strength doubled, working together, to lift the table up.]
[Nica]: *is hiding in the car by now*
* Janie ends up getting her hatchet too, just in case
* Monty focuses on keepign out of reach of the hunter.

* Chow hasn't lifted anything as heavy as a table in a while, it's true.
* Janie can help with a hero bonus?
* Chow makes a wheezy noise as he struggles with his end of the table. Oh god being in your fifties sucks,
GM: [You can indeed! Giving your 10 to Mr. Chow would make this a successful lift. Give him some encouragement.]
(Janie) Mr.Chow! That's a wonderful idea!
[Eric] *is keeping his distance, and begins to circle around so he can be on the other side from where Vito and Chow are and keep aiming at Mr. Hunter - that gun is worrying him, and if he starts raising it to fire he's gonna take the shot*
* Chow is aware of the eyes of all these Americans on him. It will be really embarrassing if he fails in front of a bunch of American women. Chow finds a reserve of strength somewhere in their yells, however due to his own fear of failing this may be, and hefts the table,
GM: [Foreign women are watching. Chow finds some reserves of strength and lifts!] [21:37] Ooof
* Chow grunts and nods at Vito
(Chow) Knock him then... pin with... nf- table
[Rex] "Oh, i can help with that. That way, uh, if you need to, um shoot him..you can shoot him." *nods to Vito*

GM: (Hunter) *seems to be just about to figure out his gun when--- oh hey, is that a table flying through the air?*
(Gloria) **Gloria is getting in position to jab the hunter as soon as he is pinned**
[Nica]: *yells from the car* Give 'em hell, Vito! *hero bonus*
* Janie gets twine and burlap ready, just in case
* Chow huffs for breath after running the table into the hunter
GM: [Dang that hunter walks right into it. He gets kersmacked with the table, which knocks him down and pins him under it. His leg is twitching slightly and there's a moan... but he's otherwise still. For the moment.]
(Vito) Bag 'im!
(Janie) Nobody has rope?
GM: [Chow and Vito, give yourselves a DP for a dramatic takedown.]
* Chow wipes his face with his sleeve and looks warily at the man to make sure it doesn't look like he can get out
GM: (Hunter) *twitch...twitch... moannnn*
(Vito) I have tow-chains in the trunk ... no rope though.
(Gloria) Good job. **Gloria is moving closer, needle posed and looking for a safe angle to jab him and see if sedatives will work**
* Janie heads over with her twine and burlap
[Eric] Hold the table down and make sure he doesn't get out from under it, now.
(Max) Chains might be better than twine, considering.
* Chow nods at Eric
[Eric] Tow chains'd work, if he's asleep.
(Joseph) I may have some snow chains in the trunk if that will help.
* Chow takes one end and sits on that end of the table, making sure he's not within reach of any hands
(Janie) Get the chains, and I've got scarves in my suitcase we can cover his mouth with those
* Vito yells at Nica to get the chains
[Nica]: *peeks out the window, sees that it's safe, gets the keys and grabs a chain from the trunk*
(Maxine) *goes over to sit with chow-- thinking he needs a bit of bulk on his side*
(Gloria) **She puts on gloves seeing that he is pinned before double dosing him with sedatives. She wants to check his vitals probably at the knee if it is out**
* Chow gives Vito a small nod of approval for his help
* Joseph returns with chains.
* Chow gives Maxine another, smaller nod (you're a woman) when she sits on the table too
[Nica]: *panting a little, goes back for the suitcase, doesn't even ask why Janie's suitcase is in Vito's car*
[Eric] *moves in cautiously to help add to the weight on Vito's side*
(Maxine) Good job guys.
[Eric] ... So. I guess that answers the question of whether there's rabies out there. Crazy bastard.
[Rex] "Guess so!"
GM: [Well the seditives seem to make the twitching stop.... at least for now. Give it a per and doctor to check his vitals at the knee.]
(Janie) I'm going to shove one of these in his mouth, and use another to cover his head *referring to the scarves* if he wakes up, that might keep him from biting.
(Maxine) Poor bastard.
* Chow looks rather shaken by the whole episode, and wipes his face again. His weird gun and his doctor bag are several feet away, dropped in order to grab picnic table, but he doesn't want to get off the table right now to get them* Careful. *at Janie*
* Monty claps. "Good show... You... did avoid offing him, right?"
(Gloria) If he is rabid. Black tongue is a weird symptom.
(Joseph) Poor bastard indeed.
(Janie) I will be.
(Vito) Watch your hands, Janie.
* Janie-PL gets to work
[Rex] "Oh hey, Janie, why don't you let me do that?"
(Maxine) That doesn't usually happen?
(Janie) Alright...
[Eric] Of course. He's just held down.
[Rex] *takes the scarves from Janie and shoos her away*
GM: [Gloria-- funny, you can't find a pulse. Maybe it's just because he's wearing bulky pants and the angle's strange.]
[Nica]: That's really, really brave.
* Chow looks nervously down at the face as Rex gets ready to try and gag the hunter
GM; [Perhaps fortunately for Rex, the hunter looks quite sedate at the moment.]
[Vito]: ... crazy bugger.
(Gloria) **Waits for the gagging to check his neck**
(Janie) Don't forget he needs to be chained
[Rex] *grins at Nica* "It'll be a piece of cake!" *applies gag to hunter*
* Janie isn't taking any chances
* Vito gets on with the chaining
GM: [Gloria checks the hunter's neck. The seditives must have done him in, in his condition. There's no pulse, and his skin is quite cool.]
[Rex] "See, nothing to worry about."
* Chow stares down at the man where Gloria is trying to take his pulse* What takes so long?
* Vito gets on with the chaining to surprisingly little resistance
(Maxine) *peers down at the hunter as they chain and check him*
(Gloria) He doesn't have a pulse. **She really seems confused because it shouldn't have killed him to be sedated, at least as far as she knows** Or I can not find one.
(Maxine) Man, rabies makes you look rough.
* Joseph looks at hunter.
* Chow makes a disparaging noise
(Maxine) .... he died?
* Chow thinks negative things about Gloria's competence* I check
(Joseph) He really doesn't look right. A picnic table shouldn't have killed him.
(Janie) ...Didn't Fred say that the possum was dead?
(Gloria) **Gives Chow gloves**
[Rex] "He looked pretty sick BEFORE the table and the drugs though..."
* Chow takes the gloves with some disdain
[Eric] Seemed dead. Then got back up again and had to have its head crushed in with a shovel.
* Monty tries to take a deep breath. "Oh no..."
* Chow collects his bag now that several people are on the table and pulls out his stethoscope. Chow gives Gloria look like 'SEE this is how you do it, girl'
(Janie) Dead or alive, he needs to be wrapped in the burlap so nobody gets blood on them
* Chow moves in to take a limb and feel at a pulse point with the stethscope, sliding in the earpieces to his own ears
(Vito) I feel like I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop ... *finishes the chaining by snapping a padlock into place*
GM:[No vitals. But Chow notices something odd...]
* Chow 's expression changes from confidently expecting to find a pulse to being a little weirded out when, check, no pulse
GM: [There's a smell to him-- like that of decay. And his flesh, it looks like that of a man who has been already dead a while. Yet... he was just moving about, and the sedative just killed him.... didn't it?]
* Chow stares down
**Gloria watches him and nods** I couldn't find it either.
* Chow moves the stethoscope a few times* this is not right -- he is cold
(Vito) He stinks.
(Chow) even if ketamine killed-- he is dead for days
(Rest of log to be formatted at another time-- GM is exhausted. Suffice it to say the hunter, though by all appearances dead, springs back up. The characters have to shoot him in the head, and cut off an arm. They bring him to the university lab freezer.)
(Jim) {Recap: There has been at least open notable case of rabies in the area recently and residents were advised to get their pets vaccinated. At the vet's office, several men were overheard discussing a possum who had not only been aggressive, but had seemingly come back from the dead to attack the local taxidermist. Several local residents left to speak with the taxidermist in hopes of learning more or taking faster action than the Garden State's health department.}

* Janie-PL frowns
* Janie eyes Gloria
* Janie is upset again
Good show.
* Vitol nods at Rex
* Monty chuckles. "Heh, ghosts..."
* Chow grunts
* Vito eyes Nica
[Eric]
*laughs*
* Janie has a knife
* Monty nods a bit.

* Janie says low

* Chow frowns
(Vito) Oh ... crap. *is backing toward the cars but facing the woods, and takes out his pistol*
GM: [Rustle... rustle.... rustle....]
* Chow opens his leather satchel
* Joseph hand tightens around the tire iron he brought.
(Vito) Eric, you got the thing?
(Maxine) *starts backing toward the cars*
* Janie watches
* Janie stares

* Janie backs up
* Joseph is backing up as well.

* Chow looks around* Vito!

Chow finds some reserves of strength and lifts!] [21:37]

* Chow nods at Eric
* Joseph returns with chains.
* Janie-PL gets to work
[Rex] "Oh hey, Janie, why don't you let me do that?"
* Joseph looks at hunter.
Yet... he was just moving about, and the sedative just killed him.... didn't it?]
* Chow stares down
**Gloria watches him and nods** I couldn't find it either.
